Joedy Gardner - Skills

joedygardnerJoedy was class President and graduated from St. John’s College Prep Military High School in Washington D.C. in 1979, where he was All-State, and received All-American Basketball honors in High School.  He continued his education as a Business Major and played Basketball for two years at Northern Arizona University.  At NAU he was All-League and an Honorable Mention Academic All-American, breaking their Freshman and Sophomore scoring records.  His concluding two years at Long Beach State University were under the respected Fred “Tex” Winter, currently an NBA assistant coach with the Lakers. Joedy graduated with a B.A. in Business in 1984.  That same year he was drafted by the Houston Rockets of the NBA.

In 1984, Joedy began his Professional career with the Rockets, and then played in the CBA with the Wisconsin Flyers in 1984-85.  This was followed by seasons in England, Ireland, Scotland and France.  Joedy retired from playing in 1989 after a severe ankle injury.  Furthermore, Joedy comes from a basketball family.  His father played at West Virginia University as the other guard along side Jerry West.  Joedy has been the head coach of SCA for the last 5 years and has a national championship team consisting of players such as Kevin Love, Brandon Jennings, Taylor King, Chase Budinger, Ronaldo Sydney, and numerous other top players.  Joedy and his wife, Sheri, have three children and reside in Southern California where they are active in their community church and youth organizations.

Joedy has had the pleasure of coaching Pat Garrity, Sean Rooks, Mark Madsen, Derek Fisher, Greg Ostertag, Baron Davis, Sean Marks, Tyson Chandler, and several other notable players.
